Royal fashion has been a point of speculation and admiration for hundreds of years. The most recent example to date, of course, is Kate Middleton. She often graces the front of glossy magazines in a mixture of high street and high fashion. Kate has been seen out and about in clothes from high street big boys such as Zara, H&M and Reiss. Luxe Models loves this about the Duchess; she demonstrates the fact that high street fashion is not to be missed out on. We wonder where Kate is going to be shopping for her maternity wear?!

However, Kate is not all about high street (she’d be a pretty humble member of the Royal family if she was). She must, of course, fit some designer into her life. Two of Kate’s favourite designers are Alexander McQueen (Kate sported a beautiful Alexander McQueen gown on her wedding day) and Burberry. What a great model for the designers to have; you can’t beat Royalty wearing your line.

Luxe Models loves the royal side of fashion. Princess Diana has acted as another model for this side of the fashion world. Diana was idolised by many; she was an icon of fashion and influenced women all over Britain for years. Diana was also the point of some great work by world class photographers. From chalk yellow dungarees, to the strapless silk taffeta gown she famously wore to her first official engagement at Goldsmiths Hall in ’81, to corduroy trousers and wellington boots, Princess Diana always looked the part. Diana’s wedding dress was kept completely secret until the day of the wedding, just like Kate Middleton’s.

Here at Luxe Models, London, we love the way in which fashion allows for Royalty to merge the worlds of elite and celebrity. It’s great to see Kate Middleton carrying on great Royal style, we can’t wait to see what she wears next!

On the 3rd of December 2012 Price William and Kate announced to the world the long awaited news that they are expecting their first child. The Royal couple married in April 2011 after being together since 2001. Most royal heirs have traditionally been born within a year of their parents’ marriage. Prince Charles was born within a year of Prince Philip marrying Queen Elizabeth. Following that tradition, Prince William was also born within a year of Princess Diana marrying Prince Charles. So the pressure was certainly on the young couple from their wedding day, though they always remained coy about starting a family, they never dismissed the idea during interviews.

The members of the Royal Family and the Duchess’s family are said to be delighted, as are people from all over the world. The news has made headlines across the commonwealth and the world, from England to New Zealand and from The United States to Africa. With both David Cameron and Barack Obama commenting and sending their congratulations to the couple on the wonderful news.

It is being widely speculated that Kate Middleton and Prince William will continue to modernize the monarchy by being as hands on as possible with their child. Previous Royal Babies have mostly been in the care of Nannies whilst the parents are on duty traveling the world. Many are expecting this baby to break with tradition and travel with the parents on any foreign visits.

The next exciting news we are awaiting is what the new baby will be named. Royal naming is incredibly important. The name of a Royal Baby used to have to be a quite traditional family name such as George or Victoria and there was always a strict protocol to follow. Diana was the first one to go against this as the original names wanted to be given to Prince William and Harry were Arthur and Albert but Diana put her foot down and named them as she wanted.

Even though it may not seem so, Prince Charles and Princess Diana also changed the way Royal babies were brought up. In the past new Royal Babies were left in the care of their nannies the majority of the time, this was the same the Queen Elizabeth and her children. Once William and Harry were born they were mainly with their parents whether it was in England or traveling around the world. There are already unsubstantiated rumors that William and Kate will only be hiring a part time nanny…but we will all have to wait and see!

William and Harry were also taken to school, and unless she was working, Diana would take her boys personally, only leaving this to nannies when she was on an official duty.

The largest changes to protocol came in October 2011 when new rules were approved by the commonwealth leaders that change those in place since the 17th Century. Whether it’s a boy or girl, the first born will become heir to the throne. If it is a baby girl it will be the first time a girl takes precedence over the younger brother.

All we can do now it wait for our beautiful Duchess to give birth in July, we’re sure that William and Kate will make brilliant modern parents.

After having to cancel several appearances following her recent illness Kate Middleton made her first formal public appearance since the Royal Couple announced their wonderful news to the world. Braving cameras, The Duchess attended the BBC’s Sports personally of the Year Awards, where she presented two awards. Kate looked stunning in a beautiful Alexander McQueen emerald green skirt suit and appeared “healthy and strong.”

Kate stayed throughout Coe’s speech and was then on hand to present the Sports Personality of the Year award on to Bradley Wiggins.

Runner-up was Team GB heptathlete Jessica Ennis, who won gold in the 2012 Games, and in third place was tennis star Andy Murray, who also won gold at the London Olympics.

‘While the Duchess does not feel ready to attend a four-hour engagement, she is keen to show her support to the UK’s sportsmen and women at this prestigious event which caps a momentous year for British sport,’ said a senior royal source.

The Duchess had attended the event alone whiles her husband, Prince William,

has been forced to return to their rented farmhouse in Anglesey, North Wales, as he is due on duty as an RAF Search and Rescue pilot.

Prince William is due to return to London in time for Christmas but aides have yet to announce whether they plan to join the Royal Family at Sandringham, in line with tradition.

After the ceremony she met some of this year’s sporting heroes backstage including Sports Personality runner-up Jessica Ennis, unsung hero award winners Sue and Jim Houghton, and Martine Wright, who won the Helen Rollason accolade.

Where once the Queen Mother Library was is now a £57 million new premier information library, part of the University of Aberdeen is to be officially opened by The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

The new library started construction in 2009, houses more than one million books along with collections of rare historic manuscripts.

Her majesty will be introduced to the buildings architects, donors and the members of staff and to follow a plaque will be unveiled by Her Majesty herself this Monday. Following that The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will travel to Marischal College, originally opened by King Edward V11 in 1906, to have a tour of the building, meet the staffs who work there, and to view an exhibition showing archive footage before unveiling a plaque.

Cllr George Adam, Lord Lieutenant of Aberdeen City, said: “I and everyone in Aberdeen will be delighted and honoured to welcome Her Majesty to the city to visit the magnificent Marischal College and the University of Aberdeen’s impressive new library building.

“Marischal College was opened in 1906 by her great-grandfather and it is very fitting that Her Majesty will visit the newly regenerated building 106 years on in this, her Diamond Jubilee year.”

Also this week The Queen has purchased a series of 4 iconic prints by cult pop artist Andy Warhol. The prints are of The Queen herself which were designed to mark The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. They will be display for the first time in Windsor Castle later this year.

The photographs used of The Queen were taken by photographer Peter Grugeon in April 1975 which was then later released for use during the Silver Jubilee in 1977.

The four images form part of a portfolio named Reigning Queens which is based on pre-existing photographs of the monarch and three of her counterparts, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, Queen Margrethe of Denmark and Queen Ntombi Twala of Swaziland.

Just last week another set from the same edition was estimated to fetch £150,000 at an auction by Sotherby’s.

The prints will be part of the exhibition ‘The Queen: Portraits of a Monarch’ which will be at Windsor Castle from November 23rd until June 2013.

Prince William and The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, have recently been spending their time in Tuvalu as part of The Diamond Jubilee Tour. Even though it was the last day of the tour Price William and Kate were in very high spirits as they laughed away enjoying the islands traditional activities.

As part of their visit to the beautiful island, situated between Hawaii and Australia, they toured a primary school and a university campus following that they viewed demonstrations of traditional crafts and cooking while visiting a mocked-up Tuvaluan village.

The couple took part in various traditional activities. William was eager to show off his sporty side and joined in with the locals in on a game similar to volleyball where a large group of men fight to keep the ball in the air. Although in this game the ball was a coconut which William did seem to struggle to keep up.

Both William and Kate kept up to tradition and made the part wearing eye-catchingly bright grass skirts and danced the night away at a gathering of island chiefs where they were joined by six island communities of the South Pacific nation. They all join together in large groups at a ‘Fateles’ or a local dance where different groups try to out sing and dance each other in a friendly rivalry.

When as by Tapugao Falefou, a senior government official asked if he enjoyed himself William summed the night up as ‘good, really good- an amazing evening.”

As the visit to Tuvalu was the last in the Diamond Jubilee Tour the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is to return to the UK today after a nine-day Diamond Jubilee tour of South-East Asia and the South Pacific, a string of visits which saw them counties such as Singapore and Malaysia.
